The development of male hormones
On a man’s body, practically all male hormones work according to just one: testosterone. As early as adolescence, changes in the body and mind of boys begin to manifest some erratic behavior. At this stage, they develop as a function of gonadotrophins, two hormones that act on the testicles and are divided into follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH).
Stimulating the functioning and growth of the testes, FSH and LH are produced in the adeno-lipoid gland. But testosterone is the main hormone in man’s body. It is this particular hormone, which becomes responsible for the genitals, for the development of the testicles and provokes those sexual impulses. Also linked to metabolism, it produces energy and regulates fat in the body.
Even in the embryonic period, testosterone begins to be produced. The presence of this hormone in the embryo determines our sexual organs. As a teenager, the boy produces the interstitial cell-stimulating hormone (ICSH), which boosts sperm and causes beards, penis, voice, and muscle to develop.
Also responsible for man’s behavior, testosterone regulates libido and sexual desire, being at its peak of production between 17 and 30 years of age, decreasing 1% a year thereafter. When this happens, there may be a reduction in muscle mass, bone mass and impulse by sex.
Produced in the brain, this is the love hormone, which is released with greater intensity during orgasm. It is responsible for reducing anxiety and acts as a neuromodulator in social interactions. However, it is 2,000 times less present in men than in women.
It focuses more on the gut and brain, where it transfers the signals between one neuron to another, functioning to control mood. When it is lacking in the body, it can lead to depression, anxiety, irritability and compulsion for sweet foods.
A university study has also shown that problems of premature ejaculation may be related to the lack of male hormones, especially serotonin. When it is in less activity in the brain, this hormone deregulates male ejaculation.
In the pineal gland of the brain is produced melatonin, which regulates sleep and the so-called biological clock. This hormone receives information from the environment and organizes the senses of mood, satiety, breathing, heartbeat, and other vital functions and behavior.
One of the male hormones responsible for the functions of metabolism, thyroxine 4 is produced in the thyroid gland and passes through the intestine, nervous system and reproductive system. In excess, it causes hyperthyroidism, palpitations, weight loss and insomnia. When is missing, causes hypothyroidism, hair loss, bloating, constipation and discouragement.
These are the main male hormones in our body system. They have to be in perfect control in order to perform to their best ability. Some neurotransmitters on the brain could cause learning difficulties, for instance, if they are out of balance.
